Julian Assange continues to sit in the Ecuadoran
embassy in London, fending off extradition to Sweden to face manufactured
sexual assault charges so that he can be extradited in turn to the United
States to stand trial for embarrassing its leaders.
Meanwhile, in Russia, the three members of
the anarcho-punk feminist collective Pussy Riot have been sentenced to two
years in prison for running afoul of the Russian Orthodox Church and Vladimir Putin. The church has forgiven them. Mr. Putin has not.
A case of tall poppies being cut down?
